Chanel’s First-Half Sales Reportedly Rise 16% as Matthieu Blazy’s Collections Drive Growth

Chanel’s comparable sales reportedly increased by approximately 16% year over year in the first half of 2026, according to Bloomberg, which cited a person familiar with the company’s performance on August 4.

The figures have not been officially released by Chanel, and a representative for the company declined to comment. As a privately held company, Chanel publishes its financial results only once a year.

Summary

  • Chanel’s comparable sales reportedly rose by approximately 16% in the first half of 2026
  • Sales at its fashion division, the company’s largest business, reportedly grew at a similar rate
  • Sales increased by more than 25% in the US, while Watches and Fine Jewellery climbed by approximately 35%
  • Matthieu Blazy’s new creations, which began arriving in stores in March, are believed to have contributed to the growth
  • The figures are based on an anonymous source and have not been officially confirmed by Chanel

Fashion Division Delivers Double-Digit Growth

Sales at Chanel’s fashion division reportedly grew at a rate broadly in line with the group’s overall performance. The division, which is said to generate approximately 60% of the luxury company’s revenue, was a central driver of growth during the first half.

Matthieu Blazy was appointed Artistic Director of Fashion Activities in December 2024, taking responsibility for ready-to-wear, haute couture and accessories.

Blazy made his Chanel debut in October 2025, presenting the House’s Spring/Summer 2026 collection at the Grand Palais in Paris. His creations began arriving in stores in March 2026 and have reportedly received a strong response from clients despite geopolitical uncertainty and a challenging consumer environment.

US Sales Rise by More Than 25%

Chanel reportedly recorded sales growth across every region, including China and the Middle East. The US led the expansion, with sales increasing by more than 25% year over year, according to the source.

Similar trends reportedly continued into July. However, the source said full-year growth would likely be lower than the first-half rate as year-over-year comparisons become more demanding.

In 2025, Chanel’s comparable sales increased by 7.2% in the Americas but declined by 0.8% in Asia Pacific. Whether the renewed momentum reported across all regions, including China, can be sustained through the end of 2026 will therefore be an important point to watch.

Coco Crush Supports Jewellery Growth

Sales at Chanel’s Watches and Fine Jewellery division reportedly surged by approximately 35% in the first half. The increase was supported by demand for the Coco Crush jewellery collection, while watch sales also grew.

Revenue at the Fragrance and Beauty division reportedly increased by approximately 8%. According to the source, Watches and Fine Jewellery accounts for around 15% of Chanel’s total revenue, while Fragrance and Beauty represents approximately 25%.

Growth Stands Out Across the Luxury Market

Chanel’s reported performance stands out during a mixed earnings season for the world’s major luxury companies.

Richemont recorded a 20% year-over-year increase in sales at constant exchange rates during the April-to-June quarter of 2026. Its Jewellery Maisons division, which includes Cartier, generated 24% growth at constant exchange rates and led the group’s performance.

LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton, meanwhile, reported organic revenue growth of 2% in the first half of 2026. Its Fashion and Leather Goods division declined by 1% on an organic basis during the six-month period but returned to growth in the second quarter, rising by 1%.

The division includes Christian Dior Couture, where Jonathan Anderson’s first creations delivered what LVMH described as an excellent start.

Chanel generated revenue of $19.269 billion in 2025, representing comparable growth of 1.8%. If the reported 16% expansion is sustained over the full year, it would mark a significant acceleration and suggest that Blazy’s creative renewal is translating into commercial growth. However, the first-half figures remain based on information from an anonymous source and have not been confirmed as official financial results.
