A patent associated with the Louis Vuitton Monogram, registered in 1905, explicitly allowed variations in color, scale and material, establishing a foundation for the creative reinterpretations that have followed.
The new High Trunks collection builds on that legacy by transforming the Courrier Lozine 110 through leather marquetry, mother-of-pearl inlay and sculpted chrome surfaces. Each creation reflects the Maison’s historic trunk-making expertise while exploring new possibilities in material, texture and form.
An Underwater Landscape Composed of Leather
Created as a one-of-a-kind piece, the Leather Marquetry Under the Sea Courrier Lozine 110 celebrates the diversity and vitality of marine life.
Inspired by the aquatic world at the heart of the Men’s Spring-Summer 2027 collection, the trunk depicts coral reefs, tropical fish and aquatic plants in an intricately constructed underwater panorama. Each side presents a different composition, revealing new details as the trunk is viewed from different angles.
More than 1,500 individually cut leather elements were assembled by hand over several hundred hours to create the exterior. The composition incorporates over 35 types of leather selected according to their grain, color and texture. Subtle tonal variations give the underwater landscape a heightened sense of depth and movement.
Shell-inspired metal corners extend the marine theme beyond the marquetry, combining technical precision with a playful approach to decorative craftsmanship.
More Than 2,000 Pieces of Mother-of-Pearl
For the Mother-of-Pearl Marquetry Courrier Lozine 110, Louis Vuitton collaborated with French marquetry artisans to unite two established craft traditions.
The design reimagines the Monogram through the iridescence of mother-of-pearl sourced sustainably from large pearl oysters. Its surface shifts subtly as it interacts with light, giving the familiar motif a luminous and continually changing appearance.
Thousands of precisely cut mother-of-pearl pieces were individually inlaid by hand into smoked larch wood, a material selected for its strength and naturally rich character. Rather than applying color only to the surface, the wood undergoes a smoking process that alters its tone throughout. It is then polished, finished and varnished to reveal the final composition.
More than 2,000 pieces of mother-of-pearl appear across the Courrier Lozine 110. Coordinating slats, rivets and metal details extend the craftsmanship throughout the trunk’s structure, producing a Monogram surface that becomes increasingly intricate when viewed up close.
Chrome Wave Captures the Movement of Water
Inspired by the movement of the sea, the Chrome Wave Courrier Lozine 110 takes the form of a sculptural art object. Its undulating silhouette follows the rhythm of waves, while a reflective exterior changes in response to the surrounding light.
Transparent acrylic panels are carved by hand into fluid, wave-like forms before the Louis Vuitton Monogram is laser-engraved onto their surfaces. Through a technically demanding process, the panels remain in continuous motion as several finishing layers—including two coats of silver chrome—are applied to produce a uniform mirror effect.
Opening the trunk reveals a traditional cream-colored natural cowhide interior featuring Louis Vuitton embroidery. The contrast connects the experimental exterior with the Maison’s enduring design codes.
New Materials and Trunk Silhouettes
Louis Vuitton extends its exploration of craftsmanship across a broader selection of hard-sided creations made with similarly inventive materials and forms.
Liquid Python appears on both the Courrier Lozine 110 and the Coffret 8 Montres. The hand-finished python leather features a fluid effect intended to evoke the surface of water. The Summer Captions Courrier Lozine 110 uses translucent acrylic to capture the glow of a sunset by the sea.
New silhouettes—including the Turtle Trunk and Neo Briefcase Trunk—reinterpret Louis Vuitton’s travel heritage through contemporary proportions. The Mini Malle Bijoux has also been introduced as a new object designed for modern travel and collecting.
The Mother-of-Pearl Marquetry, Chrome Wave and Liquid Python Courrier Lozine 110 will be produced on a made-to-order basis, with an estimated delivery time of approximately ten months.
Additional High Trunks are expected to become available at selected Louis Vuitton stores worldwide beginning in January 2027. Availability, release timing and the selection of designs may vary by market and store. Louis Vuitton has not yet announced specific U.S. retail locations, prices or order dates for the collection.
