PUMA Taps BLACKPINK’s Rosé for the Ballet-Inspired Speedcat Étoile

PUMA has unveiled the Speedcat Étoile, a ballet-inspired take on its Speedcat sneaker, fronted by global brand ambassador Rosé of BLACKPINK.

Wrapped in a satin-like finish and laced with ribbons that tie into a bow, the shoe arrives in three colorways and is priced at $110 in the United States.

Introduced in 1999, the Speedcat was developed from the fireproof racing shoes worn by Formula 1 Grand Prix drivers through the 1980s and 1990s. Its low-profile silhouette and suede upper have kept it in favor on the fashion scene since it first appeared in the early 2000s.

The Speedcat Étoile keeps that low-profile line while adding a soft, satin-like sheen and more refined detailing. A supple suede overlay sits over the upper, with the Big Cat rendered in a tonal shade, and ribbon-like laces tie into a bow for a graceful, ballet-slipper feel, a nod to the name Étoile, French for star and the title given to a principal ballet dancer. It comes in three colors: a delicate pastel pink, a chic black and a soft ivory.
