Hermès Reopens Relocated Store at Westfield UTC in San Diego

French luxury house Hermès has reopened its relocated store at Westfield UTC in San Diego, California. The newly redesigned boutique officially opened its doors on July 16, 2026.

Originally established in San Diego in 2008, the store now presents the house’s sixteen métiers within a bright, open environment filled with natural light.

Summary

The exterior is distinguished by a bespoke ceramic brick façade in a terracotta tone. Combined with expansive windows, the design creates a sense of openness while offering passersby a glimpse into the boutique’s colorful interior.

At the entrance, a warm palette inspired by the tones of natural fibers highlights the house’s emblematic ex-libris, illuminated by Hermès’ signature Grecques lighting.

The silk universe occupies the center of the store, while the fragrance, beauty and fashion jewelry collections are presented to the right. The home collections appear within a raised area to the left, with color-gradient flooring gently defining the different spaces.

Further inside, visitors encounter the leather goods and equestrian collections. Contrasting carpets and walls create a more vivid atmosphere before the space transitions into a vibrant private lounge furnished with custom-made pieces.

Another central area houses jewelry and watches against woven cotton and raffia walls in shades of pink and green. This decorative language continues into the men’s and women’s shoe departments, which are surrounded by the house’s ready-to-wear collections.

A Californian Spirit Expressed Through Art and Architecture

The boutique was designed by Paris-based architecture firm RDAI. Colors, textures and geometric forms shape the journey between the different métiers, creating an environment where the house’s heritage meets a contemporary design sensibility.

The interior also incorporates selected works from the Émile Hermès Collection and the Hermès Collection of Contemporary Photographs. Images of palm trees by French photographer Cécile Bortoletti evoke the Californian landscape, while Italian-Australian artist Lisa Sorgini’s “Heatwave in Montenegro” reinforces the atmosphere of a coastal escape.

Hermès conceives each of its stores as a place of encounter, designed in harmony with its surroundings and local architecture. The renewed San Diego boutique reflects that philosophy through a light-filled setting that connects the Californian way of life with the house’s timeless creations, craftsmanship and creativity.
