Christie’s to Auction Costumes From ‘The Devil Wears Prada 2’ for Charity
On August 6, global auction house Christie’s announced a charity auction featuring costumes, accessories, and jewelry from the 20th Century Studios film The Devil Wears Prada 2.
Summary
- Christie’s will host an online charity auction featuring costumes, accessories, and jewelry from The Devil Wears Prada 2
- Conceived of and supported by Meryl Streep, the auction will run online from September 1 through September 15
- Proceeds will benefit the Committee to Protect Journalists and the Council of Fashion Designers of America
- A free public exhibition will be held at Christie’s New York from September 8 through September 13
- An invitation-only live charity auction will take place during New York Fashion Week on September 10

The online auction will open at 10:00 a.m. EDT on September 1 and run through September 15 on Christie’s website. Proceeds will benefit the Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) and the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA).
The initiative was conceived of and supported by Meryl Streep, who reprises her role as Miranda Priestly in the sequel. Streep also helped lead efforts to organize a charity auction of costumes following the release of the original film.
From Screen-Worn Fashion to Film-Inspired Experiences
The auction will feature fashion pieces worn by cast members including Streep, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt, Stanley Tucci, Simone Ashley, and Lady Gaga.
Among the key lots is a Gabriela Hearst Niki dress worn on screen by Hathaway as Andy Sachs. Items worn by Streep’s Miranda Priestly include a Dries Van Noten tassel jacket and Valentino Garavani Rockstud pumps.
The auction will also offer Dolce & Gabbana looks featured in the film’s Milan fashion show sequence. Another highlight is a feather dress by BAD BINCH TONGTONG by Terrence Zhou, worn by Lady Gaga in the “RUNWAY” music video.
A selection of auction highlights will be presented in a free public exhibition at Christie’s New York, located at 20 Rockefeller Plaza, from September 8 through September 13.
Invitation-Only Live Auction During NYFW
In addition to the online sale, Christie’s will collaborate with the CPJ and CFDA to host an invitation-only cocktail reception and live charity auction on September 10 during New York Fashion Week.
The evening will feature additional fashion pieces and exclusive luxury experiences inspired by the film. Proceeds will benefit the CPJ and the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund through the CFDA Foundation Inc.
Rachel Koffsky Parker, Christie’s International Head of Handbags, will serve as the charity auctioneer.
“The charitable auction of looks and experiences tied to The Devil Wears Prada 2 allows bidders to share the excitement and energy of this terrific depiction of the fashion industry all while contributing to important causes that play a starring role in the film’s narrative – fashion and journalism. The CFDA is grateful to Disney and the film’s producers for their support of this auction which recognizes CFDA’s important efforts to strengthen creativity and next-generation talent with mentorship, resources, and business grants via the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund,” Steven Kolb, CEO and President of the CFDA, said.
The auction channels the fashion legacy of The Devil Wears Prada into support for emerging creative talent and journalism. By giving its screen-worn wardrobe a new purpose, the initiative brings a meaningful new chapter to some of the film’s most recognizable fashion.
