Soteri Brings Its Georgian Vision of “Truth in Tailoring” to Paris

This September, Soteri steps onto the international stage. The Tbilisi-born house will present “Contours of Self,” its full-year 2027 collection, at Maison Deux Quatre in Paris on 18 and 19 September — a defining moment for a young house whose philosophy is captured in three words: Truth in Tailoring. For Soteri, tailoring is more than technical discipline. It is the belief that a garment should be true not only to the body, but to the woman who inhabits it — her proportions, her movement, her character and her sense of self.

Born in Tbilisi, Shaped Through Tailoring

Soteri was founded by Ian Carver and Sopio Andghuladze, whose shared devotion to place, material culture and the visual legacies of the Silk Roads gave the house its point of view. From Tbilisi, Soteri draws on Georgia’s landscapes and sartorial heritage — not as literal reference, but as atmosphere and discipline, translated through high tailoring into refined, contemporary silhouettes. Georgia, for this house, is less a location than a creative source code: a sensibility of restraint, structure and respect for the intelligence of the hand.

The Koklos, Reimagined

The collection is shaped by Georgia’s mountains and forests, and by elements of Georgian dress — among them the koklos, a distinctive pleated form here reinterpreted through sculptural tailoring. Precise back-pleating fans across the shoulders of a beige short jacket; hand-stitched pleats gather at the ankle of a black frack trouser, threaded, on closer inspection, with a line of red. The palette moves through ginger-red, mustard seed, beige, chestnut, grey, burgundy, black and off-white, appearing across sharply cut jackets, jumpsuits, dresses, midi skirts, wide-leg trousers and koklos-inspired silhouettes.

Truth in Tailoring

At the heart of the house is its signature philosophy. Tailoring, for Soteri, is a philosophy of authenticity: a garment should fit the body, but it should also fit the woman. Its made-to-measure approach deepens the relationship between wearer and garment, while a fusion of artisanal and formal construction gives each piece a distinct presence. Craft here is not ornament, but the architecture of the garment itself.

“We do not create clothing to make a woman someone else. We create it to make her more fully herself,” the house says.

The Soteri Woman

At the centre of Soteri is the woman it dresses: self-possessed, culturally attuned and discerning. She does not dress to follow fashion or to announce herself through clothing. She chooses pieces that reflect her own perspective and the quiet value of proportion, cut, material and the hand of the maker. She does not seek attention, yet she has presence — and she dresses not to become someone else, but to become more fully herself.

Longevity as Luxury

The same respect for structure and material integrity informs Soteri’s approach to responsibility. Each garment is made without adhesives, allowing for considered disassembly and full recyclability, while fabrics remain traceable to certified suppliers. Through its repair service, the house extends the life of every piece — affirming longevity as one of luxury’s truest expressions.

“Individuality, given form,” the house says of its ambition — clothing that reveals rather than defines the woman wearing it, becoming part of a considered personal wardrobe rather than a seasonal statement. With its Paris presentation, Soteri enters a wider fashion dialogue, offering an intimate encounter with the collection, its making and the thinking behind the house.
